Matthew Kline founded "Music Lab Dallas" in 2016, now known as "Kline Klavier Lab,” bringing his expertise in building communities through outstanding musicianship. With 15 years as Senior Lecturer in Piano Pedagogy and Executive Director of the Piano Preparatory Department at SMU, he has honed his skills in merging the art of piano with scientific pedagogy.

Matthew's musical journey began at age seven with his mother and continued with formal studies at age 16 under David Pocock at Western Michigan University. His pursuit of excellence has established him as a renowned music educator across the U.S., dedicated to meeting the personal and musical needs of his students.

His students consistently achieve top marks, with some performing in prestigious competitions such as the Van Cliburn International Competition for Outstanding Amateurs and the Chicago International Competition for Outstanding Amateur Pianists.

Matthew holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Hope College, with majors in piano performance and psychology, where he studied under Joan Conway and Charles Aschbrenner, among others. In 1997, he began his Master of Music degree at Southern Methodist University, studying piano with Alfred Mouledous and piano pedagogy under Dr. Sam Holland, current dean of the Meadows School of the Arts.

He later returned to Western Michigan University to complete a Master of Social Work degree, where he built communities and served as an advocate in hospice care, public school systems, and distributing emergency financial assistance through government agencies. Matthew Kline seamlessly blends the science of pedagogy with the art of piano, creating a harmonious and innovative approach to music education.
